Marlon Samuels was clearly the architect of the West Indies’ win over England. It wasn’t something we haven’t seen before. Samuels smashed a valiant half-century when the Windies robbed the World T20 title from the arms of Sri Lanka in 2012. However, this World T20, we have witnessed something else. Samuels smashed yet another half-century as the Windies claimed the World T20 title.
While the Windies, all over the world ‘champion’ danced their ways into the hearts and nights of one and all, there was a bigger picture as far as Marlon Samuels was concerned. He had just played the innings of his life. However, there were two individuals he wanted to send a message to. And the message was as clear and mean as they come.
Shane Warne and Marlon Samuels have an interesting history together. While they have faced-off against each other on countless occasions since 1996, the Big Bash League was the stage for their fatal clash. The story has been reported a massive number of times while the video has been watched over a million times. In a nutshell, Warne caught the shirt of Samuels when the latter was wielding his bat against the legendary leggie. In what seemed to be a flashback of sorts, Samuels dedicated his Man-of-the-match award to Warne.
